TILE CARE GUIDELINES


This document is a guide to assist with maintaining your tiles in best condition. For particular issues or advice, please call your nearest Tile Bourtique store. Many polished porcelain tiles are sealed for added protection, either at time of manufacture or at time of installation. It is important to protect the integrity of any applied sealers and Tile Boutique recommends use of neutral pH cleaning agents for this purpose.

 

AS PART OF YOUR REGULAR CLEANING REGIME:

  • Vacuum or wipe to remove loose dirt and grit.

  • Spot clean where required with a damp mop or cloth (preferably microfibre). It is important that the microfibre is only damp and not wet - it should not be dripping. To get the correct dampness simply wet in lukewarm water, and then wring out thoroughly until no further water can be wrung out.

  • When required, or for lightly soiled areas, mop using a neutral pH cleaning agent, such as Slique Cleansing Fluid.

 

FOR PERIODIC INTENSIVE CLEANING OR HEAVY SOILING:

  • Scrub using a dilute solution of tile cleaner such as Slique Cleansing Fluid. Apply liberally to the surface.

  • Use a soft bristle scrubbing brush work into grout lines and contaminated areas.

  • Pick up dirty water using old toweling or a wet vac. Repeat if required.

  • Rinse with clean water and dry with old toweling.

 

EMERGENCY RECOVERY FROM SPILLS:

  • Any spills should be cleaned up immediately. Use a paper towel or cloth to dab the surface dry. Avoid rubbing or wiping as it will spread the spill.

  • If the spill is either acidic or alkaline in nature, firstly dab up the spill, then neutralise the staining effect by pouring clean water onto the area. Allow the water to sit for no more than 1 minute, and then dab dry. Repeat as necessary.

 

WHAT NOT TO DO:

  • Do not use abrasive household cleaning products.
  • Do not drag heavy items across the surface, as they may scratch.
  • Do not use any acid-based products, as they may damage the tile and/ or grout.
